Very, very nice. One thing struck me though. Why the crooked nose? Kinda makes him look like a boxer or rugby player. Was just a tad distracting for me… perhaps I have some sensitivity to a nose – who can tell. Otherwise. really nice work by the AKA folk!
Great post, looks stunning in all it’s simplicity. Makes me want to start up my favorite 3d software and do something similar, to bad it’s not really that easy to achieve what Studio AKA does on a regular basis.
Yeah, Mathias – that’s the problem with AKA. Their stuff is so simple, and you feel like you could make a whole film like that in an afternoon.
Of course people who consider themselves clever will be quick to point out that their work is DECEPTIVELY simple, the operative word being DECEPTIVE. It takes a lot of work to make something look so effortless. Maybe that’s what attracts me to the whole thing.
Michael- thanks for the link. However, the video has been limited to only those in “the zone”, by which I believe they mean the UK?
Lame. Bad enough I can’t see this thing on Boxing Day, I have to wait to even see the trailer. Boy, Aardman sure does make it hard to do free publicity for their shorts. I guess they’re so Great and Powerful that they don’t need the help. *shrug*
I bet it’s the Coolest Trailer Ever, too, isn’t it? Pffft.
Yeah, you’re right about that the style’s deceptively simple. Another thing that has been bugging me as well with the clip is the stop motion quality the animation has – would be worth a lot to peek behind the scenes on that one. By the way, good luck with the continuing work on Moon Town. I like the way it seems to be shaping out in.
Michael – you’re probably right on second thought – it’s probably the BBC trying to preserve regional rights in some way. Although I do have to say when I was putting together the AnimWatch DVD, Aardman gave me the hardest time over me wanting to include The Deadline, even though it was all over the web. Their standpoint seemed to be that including their short on my DVD would benefit my DVD much more than it would benefit them. That’s why I characterize them as the Great and Powerful Aardman.
Mathias – Oh, I’d love to see behind the scenes on Lost and Found. And thanks for the kind words on Moon Town… stay tuned for more!

Oh man, that was awesome!…great vibe going on as he takes the boat down the ramps and sets out to see, loved it.

Yeah, it is gorgeous and I am anxious to see it. As for the crooked nose, who can say? I guess it was just their take on THIS drawing…

Oh man :O ( well that sucks.
I have a feeling though that that’s more a BBC matter or a Youtube matter…Ardman I don’t think would be happy about this.
There’s two clips out there I’ve seen now, and one of them has me very excited…I don’t want to spoil anything though.
