Thats what I thought when I read about the future Pixar movies on this link: http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=109&STORY=/www/story/04-08-2008/0004789174&EDATE= snagged from Carlos Baenas blog. And I pretty much liked Cars – I remember you weren’t so enthusiastic about it – but I doubt if there really is much more in the story than what was presented in the first one.
Just wait until you have Cars 3, Cars 4, Cars 5, Cars 6…. beside your nice dvdplayer at home!D
This to me was Pixar’s low point in films. The idea of a world where only cars existed was pretty cool, and visually, they did some nice things “the rolls royce canyons, the flying “beetles” etc) but it didn’t grab me like other ones. Why they want to make a part 2 is right up there (or…down there?) with the silly choice to “remake” the original Toy Story with better technology.
Who wants to remake Toy Story with better tech? I heard Pixar was re-releasing TS2 in 3D later this year. Are they polishing up TS1 also?
Yeah, I agree with all that has been said so far in here. On the release slate in the future is the old Toy Story movie in “3d” 2009 and the second in 2010 together with the third instalment of Toy Story. I could care less of thoose films as I’m not very big on watching 3D movies. Cars 2 is due in 2012. To me the whole thing stinks – let’s squeeze out some more money of our old film ideas.

It funny… I just saw Disneys “The Little Matchgirl” and i have to say that from my own eyes its something like 1000% times better than Cars1. It strikes me… and i cant get it why?? “The Little Matchgirl” is in 5min and Cars1 1½hour long, and i cant understand why the quality vary so much?
I liked this one Christmas story Disney did. I can’t think of the title now but it was something like “the littlest donkey.” It was semi-religious with a boy taking his favorite donkey to be sold. Very heartwarming old style animation.

Bleh. Sequelitis. Studios on the movietoilet pushing out one stinker after the next.
I dunno, Mathias – the notion of a short like Match Girl being better than a full blow commercial feature like Cars is sort of the point of shorts. It seems like it’s easier to take a chance on a short. Less investment to lose on an ignorant general populace whose tendency to avoid possibly challenging material is equaled only by the cowardice of the studio Suits. Viva la shorts, I guess.

‘Fraid so, Steve. They will be releasing both movies in 3D before the release of Toy Story 3 – the storyline which has been leaked. I believe they ditched the idea to have the Buzz Lightyear line recalled to Taiwan for a story about the toys being dumped in a day care centre.
