Ah. Ya wanna HATE these guys from Pixar, you know? It’s not enough they make pure magic every day. It’s not enough they’re the envy of the art and animation worlds. It’s not enough most of them have these ambitious personal projects going on in the background, and their personal projects put most professional projects to shame. Beyond that, most of them are seriously, seriously nice guys, who care as much about sharing their processes as they do practicing their art.

Take Jim Capobianco, for instance. He’s been working on a traditional 2D animated film about Leonardo da Vinci. Full animation. In his spare time. Alone.

So… it’s taken him 10 years? So what. The film looks great, and I can’t wait to see it. Looks like the time is almost here, and he’s wrapping up production. He blogs about his film HERE.

Because I’m somewhat of a process addict, though, I couldn’t resist telling you about Jim’s posts revealing the Top Ten things he’s learned from making a short film.

Some call him Boutain

Came across some really beautiful and charming stuff by a Montreal artist who, so far as I know, goes only by the one name Boutain. Lots of great stuff at his BLOG, but I am particularly fond of this set of six black and white designs. They’re so funky and cartoony, yet very beautiful. One gets the feeling they were designs for levels in some game that never took place? I dunno. But I love them anyhow.

The Secret World of Og

OK. So, I’d be the first to admit that I’m running around like a chicken with my head cut off. I’m busier than a one-armed paper hanger. I’m busier than a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest. I’m… well, you get the point. And I’m tired from lack of sleep. (That’ll do it.)

But even I have to look at the CBC’s animated show The Secret Life of Og and wonder – even though I KNOW I had nothing to do with it – whether I in fact DID have something to do with it. I would name something The Secret Life of Og. And obviously, Og’s my nickname. And… it sort of LOOKS like something I’d do.

But even wondering – even though I know better – is probably a sign that it’s time to get some sleep. So, OK. Soon.

For those of you who may be interested, the final Croaker’s Gorge strip is up at CroakersGorge.com. There are many reasons why, and I’ve detailed some of them at the site, and will be detailing more in a forthcoming podcast.

I know… I know. But there will be other things. Bear with me.

Apologies to visitors at LunaEntertainment.com / SteveOgden.com. I’m redoing the site because it’s been a long time since I did anything with it. Lots of junk in there. Should have something back online in a few days. Thank you. – The Management.

Andrew Severynko is an artist that takes discarded bits of metal and turns them into the most incredible artistic sculptures. Just fantastic stuff…
