So you think you’re a Color Expert? Think your Rods and Cones are up to the challenge? Go take this Color Test, and see how you do!

ZERO is the perfect score. I got a 23 (a little better than average for my age range.) How did you do?

  1. Lehsa says:

    Hmmm… I got 0. Says I had perfect color vision. :D

  2. flawedprefect says:

This not only hurt my eyes, but I felt pain in my kidneys, cramps in my hands, and I contorted like I was possessed. I gave up before I dragged the first tile.

I don’t think I have what it takes to be a colorist, Steve… let alone look at color.

The worst part of what I just wrote?

    I was being plain serious.

  3. ZooRocket says:

Wow, I scored a 3… I had my trouble in the purples. Better than I thought I was going to do. Thanks for that Steve… now I can rub it in my color blind art managers face! :) Just kidding… (but he really is color blind).

  4. Pudly says:

teehee uncle steve, I have perfect color vision too! I got a 0!

  5. Og says:

Wow, the girls are really doing well on this one. Hey, Jase – a 3!? That’s incredible. I had no idea you had such great color vision.

  6. ZooRocket says:

Now if I can only use that to help my art… *shrug*

  7. Beth says:

OMG I think I am blind. Or just really really old. I got a 31. (Makes a note to self to work only in black and white from now on.)

  8. Og says:

Nice to have company here in the double digits, Beth. Thanks for the note.

  9. flawedprefect says:

I took the plunge, took some asprin, and got… 36.

    And my age is 32.

  10. Sardtok says:

I got 11, and my mistakes where in the cyan range.
One thing though, doesn’t it matter a lot what kind of screen you do this on?
I used a pretty good laptop screen, but it’s nowhere near as good as my stand-alone monitor. I’ll try it again on my ordinary monitor later today.
I can’t really tell where I’m at compared to my age range, cause it says:
Best score: -4 (off the scale)
    And
Highest score: 1520 (also way off the scale)
    And there’s no average. *shrug*

  11. Og says:

Some of the folks at my Facebook page have been asking me what kind of monitor I used, apparently aghast at my terrible, embarrassing, and apparently BLIND score of 23 (which is actually very good for my sex and age). I used a cheap DELL laptop, and the consensus seems to be that a “real” monitor would improve things. However, I’m in no mood to ever take that test again, so I’ll live with my embarrassing 23 and just hide my face when we pass on the street.

  12. Og2Og says:

G’day. I got 11, my wife couldn’t do it (her excuse was headache!) Hey Og, I had to stop by because of a certain similarity we share, our name! I am Steve Ogden too, but in Australia. Real estate agent and if you ad an .au onto your .com you would find my website. I am impressed with your excellent blog and your work… but you stole my thunder with your blog’s name (catchy, isn’t it?). Back to the drawing board for me!

  13. Sardtok says:

I got a 4 the second time around. It could be that I was just more thorough, but my mistakes shifted.
The first time I got mistakes in the blue area of cyan, smack in the middle between purple and green, this time I ended up with mistakes in the middle between green and cyan/blue.
The shift at least could be due to the monitor.
It is possible to do this thing on a piece of poop monitor, as my girlfriend got an 8 the first time around and a 0 the second time, both times on an old 12″ PowerBook G4 (5 years old or so), which does not have a very good screen in my opinion.

  14. Og says:

Og2Og – Yowza! You and I may be matter/antimatter, have you ever thought of that? I’m here on the Northern Hemi, you’re Down Under. I’m an artist, you’re real estate man. Our toilets don’t even flush in the same direction! We’d better never ever be in the same place at the same time or the universe may collapse in on itself, and I ask you – then what? heh heh. This blog has attracted more than its share of Steve Ogdens over time, all with different variations of our URL. , but you’re the one hailing from farthest away with the most similar URL. Perhaps I should be known as Og Minus AU from now on?

  15. Lehsa says:

Hey… the trick to this that I noticed is to see what is sticking up. I thought I had them all down and then I’d see one that stuck out like a lump and once I moved it where it was flat, I knew I had it right. :D

Hope that helps if you wanna do it again anyone. ;)

  16. Lehsa says:

ah ha!!! I was right about the work PCs. Their color is off so when I took the test again, it was off by 4 so I got a 4 for a score. :P Darn these monitors! They’re LCD too and Dells to boot. :P
